Apply Eyeshadow Like a Pro With These Easy Steps
Remember, the key to perfect eyeshadow application is blending! And this is something you will be coming across a lot in the upcoming steps. Let the learning begin.
Prime your eyelids: Take a concealer, preferably in a shade lighter than your skin tone, to camouflage discoloration. Dot the concealer on your eyelids and blend it all across the eyelids with a damp beauty blender. Just like an artist primes the canvas to enable better application of their paints and enhance the look of the painting, you also need to prime your eyelids to enable a smooth application of eyeshadow.
Set your eyelids: Now you need to set the concealer in so that it doesn’t crease on your eyelids and hinder the application of eyeshadow. Take some loose powder onto a fluffy blending brush and dust it over the eyelids. If you don’t set your eyeshadow, then your eye makeup will turn out to be patchy.
Apply the transition shade first: Pick an eyeshadow shade that’s the closest match to your skin tone using a fluffy eyeshadow blending brush. Make sure you tap off the excess before going in. Now hold the brush far from the ferrule so that you are able to blend the color more freely. Go to and fro over the crease in circular motions to blend the eyeshadow and achieve a diffused effect. This color acts as a transition shade that gives a more blended effect to the eyeshadow shades being used and prevents harshness in the eyeshadow look.
Apply the contouring shade: Now take a contouring eyeshadow shade that’s deeper than the previous eyeshadow shade used and pick it up using the tapered blending brush. Tap off the excess before using the brush on your eyes. Place the deeper color on the outer corner of the eyes and the outer half of the crease. Blend the color on the said areas by moving your tapered brush in circular motions. This step defines the shape of your eyes and the crease.
Apply the light matte/shimmery shade: It’s time to add color to your eyelids. Take a peachy/pink eyeshadow shade in matter or shimmery textures. Pick it up using the flat eyeshadow application brush and place the color on the remaining part of the eyelids.
Blend the two colors: To avoid any harsh edges between the two colors, you can slightly go over the meeting point of the two eyeshadow shades with the contouring shade. Blend the color in such a way that the edges seem diffused.
Intensify the look: To further intensify the eyeshadow makeup look, take a black/deep brown matte eyeshadow with the tapered blending brush and blend it onto the corners and the outer half of the crease.
Line the lower lash line: To wrap the eyeshadow look, go over the lash line with the first shade you used. Go over the lashline with the shade using an eyeshadow smudger brush. Because we intensified the outer corner, let’s intensify the lower lash line too. Take the same black eyeshadow and go over the lash line with the same brush. Make sure you apply just a light coat of color to the lash line to avoid looking like a raccoon.
Highlight the inner corner: To give your eyes a pop and complete the entire eyeshadow makeup look, apply a light highlighting shade to the inner corner with a smudger brush.
And the eyeshadow look is complete! You can line your eyes using eyeliner and kajal to intensify the look further. And yes, don’t forget to use mascara on your lashes!
These are the eyeshadow application steps that will literally make you a pro. Make sure you buy the eyeshadow palettes online along with the necessary tools to expedite your journey of eye-drama!
